Just Jump On
I have been considering starting a blog for some time now. My original idea was to write about making books. I was looking for some instruction online and found there really wasn't as much out there as I had expected. I also have been feeling for some time that I needed to push myself to create more books, especially books with content. Perhaps a blog would give me some incentive. Instead of rushing to get something done at the last minute for the annual Bookworks exhibit at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County I might actually have a body of work to choose from - imagine!
As I thought about it I realized if I only posted when I made a book I would be posting once every month or two at most. Not enough to keep anyone (including me) interested in a blog. So other stuff will make its way in, I'm sure. I'll try to keep the focus on things that inspire and delight me and relate somehow to my creative process. I have many interests and enthusiasms. I am sure snippets of photography, beading, writing, cooking and decorating will all make their way here eventually and who knows what other crafts or art forms I may be drawn to in the future. The plan is to have fun and give myself a reason to make more, learn more and share more. For today I will leave you with a picture I took with my lowly camera phone a few weeks ago and posted on Instagram. Like the bike in the photo I've been waiting long enough. Time to actually take this thing for a ride!
